Put pedal to the metal or roll slowly down one of these cycling routes. We’ve rounded up the best car-free family bike paths in Toronto for cyclists of all skill levels. Need to upgrade your bikes? We’ve got you covered there too

Centre Island

Bring your bikes over on the ferry (take the less-crowded, bike-friendly Ward’s Island ferry), and bike slowly around the island. For families without bikes, the main ferry will take you to the centre that rents four-wheeled family bikes.

Family Bike Paths Toronto: High Park

High Park

High Park’s scenic  paths (it’s Toronto’s largest public park) are great for kids, and you can take breaks at the zoo, splash pad or castle playground.

Tommy Thompson Park

Perfect for cyclists of all skill levels, the extensive paths here roam through butterfly fields along Lake Ontario.

Don River Trail

Starting from the waterfront in the south and heading north to Taylor Creek Park is a long bike ride, but suitable for advanced riders. Little riders will enjoy any stretch, and there’s great picnic spots at Taylor Creek.

Sun Valley Trail

In the east end, Crothers Woods in East York is a huge meadow-filled hidden gem that’s perfect for beginners, with gentle slopes and quiet meandering trails under canopies of trees.

The Beach

The Beach can get packed with speed-driven cyclists, crowds and rollerbladers, so stick to east of Lewty, and expect to make stops for sprinkle ice cream cones.
