I’m always on the lookout for new parks to bring the kids to and I think they appreciate the change of scenery as well. Here are five parks to try this summer:
Corktown Common Park
We visited this park for the first time this year and we were not disappointed. Corktown Common is a park in the south eastern portion of the West Don Lands neighbourhood in Toronto. The park has a playground (including a super cool stainless steel slide!), splash pad and athletic fields. There are pretty decent washrooms as well located right beside the playground.
155 Bayview Ave, Toronto
Underpass Park
This unique park can be found beneath the overpasses of Adelaide Street, Eastern Avenue, and Richmond Street in the West Don Lands neighbourhood of Toronto. The park has a playground, basketball court, and skate park.
33 St Lawrence St, Toronto
Sunnyside-Gus Ryder Park
The Sunnyside-Gus Ryder Park is also by the water, but closer to Roncesvalles Ave. The park has a playground, wading pool (which is in the shade most times — bonus!) and a public pool. The park is also right next to the beach in case the kids want some time in the sand. Oh and there’s free parking during the week.
1755 Lake Shore Blvd W, Toronto
Amos Waites Park
A beautiful park right beside the lake in Mimico, Amos Waites Park has two pirate ship play structures, swings and a covered sandbox. If the kids get tired of playing pirates they can walk over to the boardwalk to see the ducks and swans in the water. There’s also a public pool with family swim times.
2445 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke
Marie Curtis Park
Marie Curtis Park is a gorgeous park also by the water, but down the road in Long Branch. It has a fantastic splash pad and wading pool, a park with swings and challenging play structures (great for the older kids!) and sand pit. There’s a lot of green space for a picnic and a beach right at the water.
2 Forty Second St, Etobicoke
