Sticking to free festivities this holiday season doesn’t make you a scrooge. There’s plenty of merry to be had at any of these no-cost Christmas events happing in Toronto this December.

Free (and less crowded) on weekdays, attractions at this European-inspired market at the Distillery include daily caroling and sing-alongs with Santa’s elves, a ferris wheel, Santa’s village, holiday gift booths, and piping hot snacks, including hot chocolate, schnitzel, waffles, roasted chestnuts and more. Bonus: Parents will love the mulled wine.

Toronto’s official Christmas tree lights up on Saturday, November 26 at Nathan Phillips Square with fireworks and a Disney characters on ice show. If you miss it, check out the magical lights and family friendly festivities that continue throughout the season.

Keep cosy with free hot chocolate on Friday, November 25th as Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood lights up the beach boardwalk with 80,000 twinkling lights.

Set against the best view of the lake, Harbourfront’s Natrel Pond has free skating every day in December, with deejayed weekend events. Hot drinks and snacks are available inside, and there’s helmet and skate rentals available at the kiosk downstairs.
